Akira Harada

Akira Harada

Akira Harada is a professor in the Graduate School of Science at Osaka University. Having obtained his academic degrees from Osaka University, he spent most of his career working for the same University. During that time, he worked for IBM research as a visiting scientist and as a Post Doc at Colorado State University. After working at the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research (ISIR) in Osaka University, he became a professor at Graduate School of Science, Osaka University. Akira's work and research interests include supramolecular science, synthetic polymer chemistry, and biomacromolecules (Antibodies, DNA). He has received awards including IBM Science Award, Osaka Science Award, Japan Polymer Society Award, Cyclodextrin Society Award, and Medal with Purple Ribbon from the Japanese Government.

2008 INTERNATIONAL IZATT-CHRISTENSEN AWARD IN MACROCYCLIC CHEMISTRY

Professor Izatt and the late Professor Christensen conceived the International Symposia concept and organized the first five Symposia starting in 1977.
